The Bilingual Portfolio Project is a public porfolio of translation and subtitling.
This is the personal project that a translator, in his role of language intermediary, can come up with in order to share valuable content beyond the language barriers.
What format content?
As an Audiovisual Translator, I know that the stats of digital content consumption are more favorable with the info presented in video. Furthermore, in this format I have an extra-linguistic context that is very helpful for accuracy purposes in my translation and subtitling process. So, yep, video content is the chosen one. Seeing is believing.
What video platforms?
Although nowadays the two major video platforms are YouTube and Vimeo, I'm very interested in a new platform that aims to change the status quo of the creation, consumption and monetization content... So I just want to give a short reverential pause to name this new platform: Cinnamon
Cinnamon
To say it briefly, Cinnamon is a platform and a tool that uses the last in web monetization technologies to fairly fund content creators. Believe me, for content creators that want to monetize their work, Cinnamon may be like that favorite grandparent that "always makes sure you got a spare coin in your pocket".
So these are the platforms that I'm going to work with, but I'm going to start with Cinnamon, since is like the new tech tool that can offer many benefits to other language communites, but still remains in its own native community because of the language barriers.
Valuable Content?
Well, I will consider the content that can be empowering, inspiring, innovative, educational and, why, not, mind-entertaining.
Can I choose or propose a video?
Definetly, this is what I aim at. I want to create a big bilingual communty that can suggest, propose and enjoy content in his own mother tongue.
How to propose a video?
Although the chance of being part of this community is open and free, you can have the right to vote for a video just for a $5 suscription. I will explain this in more detail in other article.
Working Languages?
I will start first translating and subtitiling content from English to Spanish, but after I end up mastering my French, I will add it to the project, so it could be renamed under the title of: 'The Multilingual Portfolio Project'... Why not?
